09 April 2009

Dimitrios S. Korkodilos, CEO of Andriaki Shipping Co Ltd, is the new Chairman of Germanischer Lloyd's (GL) Hellenic Technical Committee. He succeeds Elias Ladas, Training Manager of Danaos Shipping, Athens.

The Hellenic Technical Committee is a key part of GL's network of national and regional committees, and was established to ensure a dialogue between GL and the Greece shipping community. The Committee includes 33 senior management representatives of the Greek maritime industry. It provides a forum for ship owners and maritime operators to promote knowledge transfer and to enhance the development of quality, safety and environmental performance standards.

A graduate in Marine Engineering from Hannover University, Germany, Dimitrios Korkodilos started his career as a Superintendent Engineer for the N.J. Goulandris Group - one of the leading Greek ship owners - in London. For more than seven years he was based in Japan to supervise the construction of the company's newbuildings and managed the company's office in Osaka. After working as Chief Superintendent Engineer, he became the CEO of Andriaki Shipping in 1995 as well as the Technical Director in 2006.
